Ingredients:

1 stick Braum’s Butter

1/3 Cup Sugar

1/3 Cup Suan’s® Jalapeno Pepper Relish

2 Hanson or Equally Yoked Eggs

1 cup Highland Dairy Buttermilk or Sour Cream

½ teaspoon Baking Soda

½ teaspoon Salt

to ½ cup Cheddar Cheese

1 cup Shawnee Mills Flour

1 cup Shawnee Mills Cornmeal

Equipment Needed:

Heavy Saucepan

Measuring Cups

Measuring Spoons

Grater

Directions:

  1. Add the first 3 ingredients to the eggs, combine. 
  2. Add baking soda to Buttermilk & grated Cheddar Cheese, mix well. 
  3. Combine salt, flour & cornmeal, mix well, add alternately with buttermilk to butter-egg mixture.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 25 minutes in muffin tins. In the last 10 minutes of baking sprinkle muffins with fried bacon bits if desired. 
  5. Serve with butter & additional Suan’s® Jalapeno Pepper Relish.
