PrintStrawberry Watermelon Agua Fresca
The sunny sweetness of strawberries and watermelon with the peppery kick of fresh-picked basil packs this seasonal refresher with Oklahoma favorites. Every sip is a ruby-red rush of flavor, chilled with Oklahoma’s Own Ozarka Water and finished with a ginger ale fizz.
Ingredients
- 3 cups watermelon cubes (seedless is easiest)
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled)
- 2 cups Oklahoma’s Own Ozarka Water
- 2 cups ginger ale
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 limes (1 for juice and zest, 1 sliced into thin rounds for garnish)
- Small handful of fresh basil
- Kosher salt
Toss the strawberries, watermelon, and lime juice into a blender. Add 2 cups of Oklahoma’s Own Ozarka Water and honey, plus a pinch of salt. Pulse until completely smooth. Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher.
Take the fresh basil leaves and give them a few slaps between your palms. This releases the oils without bruising them. Drop them into the pitcher and let the mixture chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
Right before serving, stir in the 2 cups of ginger ale. Serve over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with a slices of limes, strawberries, and basil. Combine lime zest and kosher salt for a pretty rim, dipping the rims of your glasses first in lime juice so the zest-and-salt mixture will stick.
