Scale

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 puff pastry, thawed
  2. 1/2 jar Southern Roots Sisters Apple Butter
  3. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  4. 1 teaspoon Griffin’s Vanilla
  5. 1 (8 ounce) package Hiland Cream Cheese, softened
  6. 1/2 cup toasted and chopped Knight Pecan Farm Pecans
  7. 1/2 tablespoon granulated or turbinado sugar
  8. 1 Equally Yolked Egg
  9. 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  10. 1 tablespoon Braum’s Milk
  11. 1/4 teaspoon Griffin’s Vanilla
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place thawed puff pastry on parchment paper and roll out slightly with a rolling pin or your fingers to enlarge the rectangular shape. Place the pastry and parchment onto baking sheet.
  2. Evenly slice with a sharp knife or pizza cutter the same number of cuts on each side of your pastry.
  3. Combine cream cheese, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl and beat until smooth. Spread an even layer over the middle of your puff pastry center. Spread Southern Roots Sisters Apple Butter over the cream cheese mixture, and sprinkle the toasted pecans evenly over the top.
  4. Begin to braid the bread by folding one piece at a time on each side alternating starting at one end of the bread and ending at the other. Be sure and pinch both ends so no filling spills out.
  5. Whisk egg with a fork. Then brush egg wash over the top of pastry. Sprinkle with 1-2 tablespoons of granulated or turbinado sugar.
  6. Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes. It is ready when the top is golden brown and the filling has begun to bubble.
  7. Allow to cool for 20 minutes and make your icing during this time by mixing together powdered sugar, milk or water and vanilla. You may add more liquid if the consistency is not thin enough. After the danish has cooled, drizzle icing over and serve.
