Sweet and Spicy Meatballs

  • 1 – 28 ounce bag Fast Fixin’ Beef Meatballs

Sweet and Spicy Sauce

  • ¼ cup Garden Club Apricot Jam
  • ¼ cup orange marmalade
  • ¼ pineapple chunks with juice
  • ¼ cup Chinese plum sauce **
  • ¼ cup applesauce
  • 2 tbsp. minced fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp. white vinegar
  • 1 tsp. sambal oelek / Chinese chili paste **

Instructions

  1. Place all sauce ingredients into food processor or blender and puree until smooth. Makes 1 ½ cups of sauce. Can be made ahead and stored in refrigerator for five days.
  2. Cook meatballs according to directions on package.
  3. Toss meatballs with room temperature sauce and serve immediately, or place in a chafing dish or crock pot to keep warm.

**Plum sauce and sambal oelek / chili paste available from Chinese specialty section of grocery store at Asian market.

Serves 8 – 10.
