Made in Oklahoma Coalition Announces August Recipe


OKLAHOMA CITY (August 5, 2017) - The Made in Oklahoma Coalition officials are delighted to announce the August Summer recipes with fresh fruits, campfire treats, and a classic Sangria that brings to mind the end of summer and the return of the school year! Celebrate Summer and Oklahoma with MIO!


Campfire Sausage Packs


1 pound Mountain View, Cajun Style Andouille Sausage

1 pound Schwab’s, Jalapeno and Cheddar Sausage

2 onions, sliced

2 bell peppers, sliced

1-2 pounds small red potatoes, halved

2 large zucchini, sliced

1 pound fresh green beans

6 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced

2 tablespoons Daddy Hinkle’s seasoning

Small bundle fresh thyme

3 tablespoons thinly chopped chives

1/4 cup olive oil

4 tablespoons Hiland Butter

Heavy-duty aluminum foil



  1. Make aluminum foil packs by cutting the foil the preferred size for your pack, then doubling it for durability. For instance, you can make six large packs so each person has their own, or you can make one or two big packs.

  2. Heat your grill to high heat or start your fire until coals are hot and flames down.

  3. Place sausages on bottom of packs.

  4. In a large bowl, combine vegetables with Daddy Hinkles’s seasoning, herbs, olive oil and butter. Distribute vegetables on top of sausages.

  5. Cover with two layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Place foil packets on grill. Check for doneness. Sausages should be browned and vegetables should be tender, which can take from 25-35 minutes or more, depending on how hot your coals are.


Watermelon Stack


1 bottle Dianne’s Legendary Italian Dressing

1 whole Triple S Farms seedless watermelon



  1. Dice watermelon and pour dressing over melon, or use the dressing as a side sauce.


Canadian River Sangria


2 oranges  

1 lemon

1 lime

⅓ cup Griffin’s Organic Syrup  

½ cup brandy, plus more to taste

½ cup Ozarka Water

1 750 ml bottle Canadian River Vineyards “Classic Red”




  1. Squeeze the juice of one of the oranges and half of each the lemon and lime into a large serving pitcher. Add the Griffin’s Organic Syrup, brandy and Ozarka water. Thinly slice the remaining fruit and allow it to set in the juice mixture for an hour or more. Add the wine and chill. Serve with ice.
