MIO Coalition donates a year’s supply of paper towels to Oklahoma City Educare

Paper towels will be used by teachers and children in daily classroom activities

OKLAHOMA CITYThe Made in Oklahoma (MIO) Coalition announced a donation today of a year’s worth of paper towels to Oklahoma City Educare, an early childhood education facility that serves at-risk children from birth to 5 years old with year-round educational programs and developmental child care. The paper towels will help curb supply expenses and give teachers an Oklahoma made product to use in their classrooms.

"MIO is pleased to donate these paper towels to Oklahoma City Educare," said Richard Wasson, executive director of the MIO Coalition. "Educare is leading the way in early childhood education in Oklahoma, and the donation is our way of supporting the teachers who need the resources in their classrooms."

MIO launched the paper towels this past summer. Proceeds from the sale of the paper towels support the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food 4 Kids backpack program.  The Food 4 Kids program provides more than 10,000 backpacks of food to hungry children each week.

“We are so grateful for the quality Made in Oklahoma products that will serve our children and families in need at Oklahoma City Educare,” said Paula Gates, executive director, Oklahoma City Educare “This contribution will be of direct benefit to the teachers and students in our 16 classrooms.”

MIO paper towels are available at retailers statewide. For a complete list of retailers, visit www.miocoalition.com.

About Oklahoma City Educare

Founded by the Ounce of Prevention Fund in Chicago in 2000, the Educare Centers are committed to helping young children grow up safe, healthy and eager to learn. Through a consortium of partners, Educare supporters create, provide and promote the highest quality outcome-based learning environments for families and their children (birth to five years) who are at-risk for school failure. Educare principles and practices are based on continual research and implementation within the field of early childhood education. The success of the children who enter this program will demonstrate the societal and economic value of investing in the earliest years in order to prevent the need for costly interventions later.
