From Timeless Treasures by Kitchen Kimberley
Recipe Name
  • 1 cup Hiland Butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. Griffin's Vanilla Extract
  • 2 C Shawnee Best All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup (or more) sliced almonds, chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter with sugar and brown sugar until fluffy; beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Stir in flour; spread or pat into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and allow to cool 5 minutes; sprinkle with chocolate chips. As chocolate melts, spread to cover entire crust. Sprinkle with nuts; press lightly into chocolate. Cool; cut into rectangles, or desired shapes. Makes about 36 pieces. Enjoy!

Tips: This cookie can be made in a variety of ways! Try using different flavors of baking morsels, such as butterscotch, white chocolate, or even cinnamon! Also, any nuts or toffee chips (sometimes called brickle topping) can be sprinkled over the top. Get creative, and you’ll get rave reviews!
